The Holy Family hug statue
The embracing Holy Family — Joseph, Mary, and the Child wrapped together in a single tender gesture — emerged from the affective spirituality of 18th- and 19th-century Catholic devotion. It made visible the deep claim of Christian theology that the divine entered ordinary family life and lived there: that holiness is found at the hearth as well as the altar.
