Jesus Crucifixion candle case

The Crucifixion has been the central image of Christian faith for nineteen centuries, and the small devotional cross — sometimes paired with a flame, as a candle holder — has accompanied prayer in homes, monasteries, and travelling chests since the early Middle Ages. The flame beside the cross recalls the Easter vigil and the words "I am the light of the world", a juxtaposition charged with two thousand years of meaning.
