Jesus Christ bust statue

The seated or three-quarter bust of Christ depicts him as Pantokrator — the ruler of all, the central image of Byzantine domes and Orthodox sanctuaries. The face, calm and somewhat severe, looks out at the viewer with the awareness of one who has already seen everything that will come. This is Christianity's answer to the classical sculptural portrait: a likeness of a god who became a man, then permanently changed both categories.
