Jesus Christ blessing statue
The blessing Christ — right hand raised, three fingers extended in the symbol of the Trinity — is one of the earliest fixed iconographic types in Christian art, appearing in catacomb paintings and 4th-century mosaics. The gesture passed from late-antique Roman convention into the universal sign of priestly benediction, used to this day by Orthodox, Catholic, and Anglican clergy worldwide.
