Guardian Angel candle case
The Guardian Angel candle case unites two of the deepest motifs in Christian devotion: the angel set to watch over a human soul, and the flame that stands for prayer. Saint Basil the Great wrote that "beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd," and the votive light in front of an image was understood from earliest Christian times to keep that protective presence visibly attended. The form here gathers both ideas into one quiet object.
