Angel playing drums statue
In Christian iconography, drum-playing angels belong to the great heavenly choir described in the Book of Revelation, where the host of heaven praises the throne of God with every instrument known to creation. From the late medieval period onward, painters and sculptors depicted musical angels surrounding altars and tombs, their instruments chosen to symbolise the harmony of the cosmos. The drum, ancient and rhythmic, evokes the heartbeat of devotion — a steady call to worship that predates melody itself.
