Tyche statue Goddess of Fortune
Tyche was the goddess of fortune, prosperity, and the destiny of cities — every Greek polis had its own Tyche, crowned with a turreted city wall like a personification of civic life itself. In Hellenistic times she rose to extraordinary prominence as the deity who governed chance and outcome in an uncertain world. The Romans inherited her as Fortuna, whose wheel turns at the centre of every story of rise and fall.
