The 3 Graces nude
The Three Graces — Aglaea, Euphrosyne and Thalia — were the daughters of Zeus and companions of Aphrodite, the personifications of charm, beauty and joyous celebration. Their classical pose, two facing the viewer and one turned away, derives from a Hellenistic relief copied throughout the Roman world and rediscovered in the Renaissance. Botticelli set them dancing in his Primavera, Raphael painted them in 1505 holding the golden apples of the Hesperides, and Canova carved his great marble version in 1817 — the unbroken thread of one of the most beloved figural groups in Western art.
