Oath of Hippocrates - Greek product
The Hippocratic Oath is the foundational ethical document of Western medicine, sworn by physicians from antiquity to the present moment. Its opening invocation — "I swear by Apollo the Healer, by Asclepius, by Hygieia and by Panacea" — and its central pledge — "first, to do no harm" — have outlasted every change in medical practice over two and a half millennia. The oath was almost certainly not composed by Hippocrates himself but by the school of physicians that gathered around him on Kos in the late fifth century BCE, and it has been sworn at medical graduations in adapted form ever since.
