Hestia, eldest of the Olympians, was the goddess of the hearth and the eternal flame of every Greek home. Quiet and chaste, she chose service over spectacle — and was honoured with the first offering of every sacrifice. Her full-length depictions, draped and veiled, embody a Greek ideal seldom expressed elsewhere: that the highest authority is the one that protects, sustains, and refuses to seek glory for itself.
