Artemis hunting - Greek Goddess -
Artemis in the hunt is one of the most enduring images of the Greek pantheon — Diana Venatrix to the Romans, the divine archer in mid-stride pulling an arrow from her quiver. From the great Roman bronze of Versailles to the marble Diana of Gabii in the Louvre, sculptors over two millennia have tried to capture this particular instant: the goddess at the centre of her own forest, her hound or stag beside her, her bow drawn but the arrow still poised. It is the iconography of attention itself, made divine.
