Achilles Attacks with the Sword

Achilles, son of the sea nymph Thetis and king Peleus, was the greatest warrior of the Trojan War — and the central figure of Homer's Iliad. Dipped in the river Styx as an infant, he was nearly invincible save for the heel by which his mother held him. This sculpture captures him mid-strike, the moment of focused fury that defined his legend at Troy and earned him a name remembered for three thousand years.
